A weekly roundup of buzzworthy tips, tricks, and topics from the Final Cut Studio community:
- It's safe to say that if you're trying to make a film, you'll often need to have (or know someone else who has) pretty deep pockets. Production isn't cheap. Thankfully, Free Geekery has posted 15 freeware programs for filmmakers that will help you cut costs while pursuing the dream.
- On the "free stuff" kick, be sure to sign up for DVcreators' Web Video Revolution Seminar presented by Josh Mellicker, a pioneer and leading expert in web video, on April 19th in Santa Monica. You'll learn how to develop better quality footage and maybe snag some decent refreshments.
- Also, follow this thread to read the current discussion about RED camera workflow prompted by RED's own "Leader of the Rebellion" Ted Schilowitz. And don't forget to check out Zoom In's Megan Cunningham as she hosts an exclusive interview with Ted at NAB 2007.
- Finally, make your way over to Apple's profile of We Are Together (Thina Simunye), to learn how Final Cut Pro helped to produce this award-winning feature length documentary about children, music and HIV. If you navigate to the film's website, you can also learn how you can contribute to the ongoing crisis in South Africa. Easiest way, though, is to hit the theatres- all of the filmmaker's profits from the film and CD will be donated to help the children.
