May 16 - NAB Highlights, Tribeca Podcasts, Tutorials

Two big events in April/May caught our attention - the Tribeca Film Festival, here in New York, and the National Association of Broadcasters Conference in Las Vegas. Producer Alex Moseman covered the event for Zoom In Online, and this week we've got highlights from the week, including buzz on technologies and trends from digital media gurus Philip Hodgetts and Michael Horton. Stay tuned next week as Alex interviews Chris Cookson, the CTO of Warner Bros., and Jeremy Allaire from Brightcove about broadcast and rich media.

We continue our Tribeca coverage with an interview with Ward Serrill, director of the Miramax documentary Heart of the Game. Star Coach Bill Resler joined us for a conversation about serendipity and documentary filmmaking, and what makes a great sports story. I cried my eyes out watching this inspirational story about a girls' basketball team fighting to win the championship with true sportsmanship, and commend Ward for finding this story and telling it so well.

We've also got a podcast interview with filmmaker Marc Meyers, who recently completed his film Approaching Union Square while holding down a full-time job in another sector of the industry. It took time and patience, but he pulled it off.

Plus, we're continuing our tutorials on After Effects 7 and Avid Xpress, and have a new tutorial for Apple's Soundtrack Pro, all featuring our expert instructors.
