We're walking the NAB show floor with Color's Product Manager tomorrow AM and getting up close with the app first hand. I'm curious to see how intuitive the interface and the workflow are, as color correction is part art, part science. The idea of working in full 444 color space with 32 bit float on the desktop ...and having a "Send To" feature right out of Final Cut Pro 6 is pretty insane.
I'm not sure I understand the idea of having pan-and-scan capabilities on your color correction workstation, though I suppose it will be handy for digital finishing sessions now that FCP accepts every kind of format, frame rate and aspect ratio in one timeline. And it will be interesting to see how many common lighting and visual problems the pre-sets solve right out of the box, versus how much they will rely on a true color correction pro working the nuances --which takes a real "eye"-- and pulling the high-end levers (because there's are a *lot* of levers to pull).
In the meantime, watch the live Qucktour demos on Apple's site.
More big pretty interface photos, after the jump.
