Be frustrated no more by the inability to download your favorite Flash videos. The new Adobe Media Player will include a feature that lets viewers grab video files and save them straight to the desktop.
Digital rights management (DRM) is an important consideration for Adobe as they move into the realm of downloadable video content. Our friend Andy Plesser at Beet.tv interviews Laurel Reitman with Flash Media Server Services to get the scoop on how DRM will play into this new model.
Reitman notes that customers are often more willing to sacrifice a few minutes of their time to watch ads than pay for a download or rental subscription service -- though she recognizes that those are viable business models, as well. Embedded ads, password protection and time limits are among the features of this new service on the content provider side.
