In our first Tech Friday article, we reviewed the Slingbox Pro from Sling Media. Apart from some of the minor issues, we concluded that it was an excellent device and deserved a place in the modern living room. However, theSlingbox Pro can also be used for video professionals that need to monitor live video feeds. Here are some of the basic setup guidelines:
1. Connect your camera or VTR source to the Slingbox Pro.
2. Ensure that the Slingbox Pro is powered on and connected to the network.
3. Run the Slingbox Pro setup wizard on a nearby computer and select the appropriate remote control for your VTR.
4. Test the Slingbox Pro via the Slingmedia software to ensure that it's functioning as expected.
5. Upon completing the initial setup, note the Slingbox ID and the device's password.
6. Log-in from a remote computer, download the software, and enter the necessary information.
7. Remotely monitor your video feeds.
The setup process for monitoring live feeds is similar to that of monitoring live television. However, given the device's flexibility -- it's perfect for users that want to monitor live video content from remote locations.
If you need to monitor video feeds from your TV set or require live video monitoring in general, finding a better device would be a challenge.
