Flickr Launching Video

Everyone's favorite photo-sharing website, Flickr, just launched a new service: Video. In other words, they are fighting back against YouTube and hoping to corner their part of that market. And it makes sense too, for those of us who are already active on Flickr, and might be inclined to upload video from time to time. But my guess is that most video-lovers already have a YouTube account, and that there will be a lot of double posting.

Anyway, what I really wanted to talk about, was how it affects the site as a portal for photographers to get their work seen. Tons of photographers get new clients through Flickr, but will video now turn focus away from photos? And if you're a photographer using Flickr to showcase your work, should you "water it down" by adding the occasional video clip? Time will tell how the Flickrites of the world will start using this new service.

Like any other curious soul, I naturally had to test it, and so, created this little video, which I later quadrupleposted to YouTube, Facebook and Blip.tv. Anybody know of a multi-uploader for video, so I can submit to all my favorite sites at the same time, I would love to hear about it.

Be warned. This video contains silly scenes that may cause shaking of the head or laughter.
