Lincoln Center and MoMa Host Annual New Directors/New Films Series

Dedicated to the discovery and support of emerging artists, New Directors/New Films has earned an international reputation as the premiere festival for works that break or re-cast the cinematic mold. Twenty-six features and six shorts, handpicked by curators of the Film Society of Lincoln Center and The Museum of Modern Art, made the cut this year, as the 37th edition of this non-competitive program spotlights the very best in the current class of new directors, actors, producers, writers, cinematographers, editors and more. We expect many of the filmmakers will be attending the festival to discuss their work first hand.

Click here for a full schedule of films playing until the event ends on April 6th. Countries represented at the event include: Argentina, China, France, Greece, Haiti, Israel, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, the Philippines, Rwanda, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, Venezuela, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Included in the event are titles that played at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival including Trouble the Water, Megane, and Slingshot Hip Hop. For more extensive coverage on Trouble the Water, check out our review, Sundance's Meet the Artists piece with co-directors Tia Lessin and Carl Dean, and our podcast of the panel discussion "On Crisis Survival: Stories of Disasater and its Aftermath" recorded live at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and featuring Tia Lessin.

Be sure to also check out Sundance's Meet the Artist piece with Slingshot Hip Hop director Jackie Reem Solloum and the podcast of the panel discussion "On Plurality: Middle East in Perspectives" featuring Jackie as a panelist, also recorded live at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival.
