Lee Torrens from Microstock Diaries recently took on a challenge and even more recently, wrote an interesting post about the results of said challenge. Though this particular one actually failed (he didn't finish as many photos, as he had set out to do in the allotted time), the attempt alone was rewarding as a learning experience. And as he also says: "Despite not meeting the challenge quantity I chose, I created 46 more photos this week than the previous week."
There is an important lesson to be learned here, and it really applies to all creatives, whether photography is your medium or you do something else. Any kind of situation, where you push yourself to do things, you don't normally do, will teach you something and give you more ammo for future projects. Furthermore, you are not going to walk away from a challenge empty handed. There will be something to show for your efforts.
Reading it made me realise, that I don't give myself enough challenges. It's too easy to get stuck in a comfortzone, which eventually might affect your work. Maybe I should take a closer look at this and give myself a little push. We all should, from time to time.
