This week, Beet.TV interviewed ScanScout co-founder and CEO Waikit Lau about the latest developments in the company's video ad network.
Lau makes some interesting observations about how ad overlays fit into the video ad space, which has been dominated by pre-roll. In his mind, the two methods aren't mutually exclusive, and ultimately the decision lays in the hands of the publisher. He points out, though, that pre-roll typically doesn't work for short form, user-generated content -- which is where overlays come into play.
ScanScout has gone through two rounds of funding, and has teamed with a number of notable (but, for now, shall-remain-nameless) publishers over the past four months, building on a list that already includes names like Daily Comedy and Blip.TV.
