I thought, I would share three of the most inspiring photobooks from my own bookshelf. These are not photography how-to books, but tomes of pictures I can look at again and again, and every time, I find new inspiration.
A Photographer's Life by Annie Leibovitz is an amazing personal journey. Leibovitz is perhaps my favorite portrait photographer alive. There is such a wonderful candidness in her work, whether it really was a candid shot or a set up portrait. This book is full of her personal snapshots, rather than her celebrity shots.
In Our Time is a book full of photos from the legendary Magnum group, which in itself should be enough recommendation. This is photo journalism at its best, from human interest to war photography. This book simply kicks ass and is a must own for anyone with an interest in photo journalism.
Hotel LaChapelle is the complete opposite from the two books mentioned above. David LaChapelle is superstylized high fashion and celebrity, styled, shot and processed like no other photographer. The colors pop out at every page and the sheer imagination behind every photo is enough to blow me away.
If you're looking for inspiration, I highly recommend all three of these books. For me, it's at the point now where I can just look at the covers and it will spark my imagination, just from all the other times, I've flicked through the pages.
