Times Old Roman

There is so much that can be said in a font that cannot be said in words.

I have always loved fonts. I almost cried when I received an essay style guide in fifth grade: size 12 Times New Roman or Arial. Could these fonts be any duller, I thought? There are so many to choose from- powerful Britannic to elegant Monotype Corsiva to spine-tingling Chiller... I sighed and re-read the guide. Size 12 Times New Roman or Arial, for every formal paper. Funny thing was, the guide was written in Comic Sans. Hypocrite. I slumped in my desk feeling defeated, and wondered why my teacher would suppress our creativity this way.

Seriously, if survival of the fittest and not convention governed the lives of fonts, Times New Roman would be long extinct.

Luckily, not everyone gives in to the status quo. To keep up with the latest news in the world of typography, snag a look at the newest, wildest fonts, and get inspiration for coming up with your own, check out fontfeed.com
