A weekly roundup of buzzworthy tips, tricks, and topics from the Final Cut Studio community:
- Check out Academy Award-winning sound editor Walter Murch ("The Conversation", "Apocalypse Now", "The English Patient") as he talks about the industry's transition from Avid to the mainstream usage of Final Cut Pro in the fifth part of a History of Editing Series.
- You're bound to experience weather issues at some point in your filmmaking career and buying umbrellas, covers and plastic bags to cover your equipment can be pretty costly. Thankfully Prokit UK have developed Kobold lights, which are daylight balanced lights that can be used anywhere, rain or shine. Watch Mark Holmes of Prokit UK talk about why they are a must-have for serious filmmakers.
- As with most software, Final Cut Pro is not perfect. Some complaints have been made regarding their audio tools, incompatibility of point-releases, and restriction with Quicktime. But you can solve FCP failings by going through some of the tips and tricks found here.
- And lastly, if you're near Agoura Hills, CA from July 15-16, then be sure to check out renowned editor, director and Apple-certified trainer Larry Jordan as he launches an all new PowerUP with Final Cut Studio tour in Santa Barbra. The three seminars he'll be teaching are "Succeeding in the New World of Tapeless & HD", "Integrating Adobe Products into a Final Cut Workflow", and "Discover the Hidden Power in Final Cut Studio". Don't miss out!
