Photoshop Quicktips – Adjustment Layers
Adjustment layers allow users to make color and tonal adjustments to an image non-destructively, meaning no permanent changes are made to pixel values. The adjustments are stored in the Adjustment layer itself and then applied to the layers below it. At any time an adjustment layer can be discarded, restoring the original image.

It appears that dragging my feet on finishing my Ableton Live 7 review actually worked out in my favor, since Ableton spent much of NAMM discussing the upcoming releases of Live 8 and Suite 8, as well as several ominously named New Initiatives that outline their plans for full web domination. So I'm officially withholding my opinions of Live 7, partly to alleviate my fear of being irrelevant but more so to improve my ground among the eager hordes clamoring to get their hands on the update when it's released.
That doesn't mean that Ableton is sleeping until then. Major movements are being made in the electronic music production studio's camp in hopes to build, and then capitalize on, an industry buzz. These movements include announcements and information on upcoming releases, a laying of groundwork for their intended web advancements, and, taking a page from the young urban-entrepreneur playbook, giving away samples of the current available products to potential users and converts, tantalizing them with a taste of things to come.
When new technology comes out, it tends to fall into one of two categories: Tools that make our technological lives and work easier, or gadgets that make our technological lives maybe not improved, but a hell of a lot more fun. As a technical professional, I review and judge tools, but every now and then an item comes along that falls short of being a useful tool and is instead a sensational gadget. One such item is Cyber E Sport's Orbita Mouse.

In this fifth and final tip from producer Vincent di Pasquale, we wrap up the first set of tutorials featuring the Euphonix Artist Series Controllers and Logic Pro 8.
Euphonix Artist Series & Logic Pro - Part 5 of 5 - Layouts
The Transform Window is a great tool in Logic Pro 8 that allows you to manipulate all sorts of parameters of a MIDI performance. Dave takes us thru a lot of the control options and illustrates the effects they have on MIDI notes. He dives in a little on some of the specific controls, but also highlights the use of default presets that can humanize, or otherwise control a simple MIDI region.
There is also some stuff about a live chat, but since this tip was made some time ago, you can just ignore that part.
Enjoy!

Euphonix Artist Series & Logic Pro - Part 3 of 5 - Tracking
This is a great tip from the SFLogicNinja for anyone interested in reworking or remixing songs. In this tip Dave shows two different ways to time stretch an a cappella vocal for the purposes of slowing down the track to match a different beat. This tip also works for all of you mixtape makers that like to seamlessly blend songs together for a long mix.

Dave calls this set of tips the S-S-Stutter method of editing or Glitching, but it seems to me like more of a simplified version of the classic Chopped and Screwed remix method. This is a great tutorial pair that covers lots of little audio manipulation tips that are great for creating unique effects and transitions.
I know that this is a little atypical for me to be posting, but check this out:
