At NAB, Adobe previewed the Adobe Media Player which is an incredibly exciting new solution for companies interested in easily publishing their archive of professional film and video online, and retaining the branding and creative control over how the media displays in a web browser.
The whole concept of "a picture is worth a thousand words" pretty much escaped most English Lit majors I graduated with. And then you "Stumble Upon" (which I did, both technically and literally) a series of images like this, and they stop you in your tracks.
Enjoy.

Friends and colleagues in the film world are deeply saddened this week by the passing of a beloved community member, Jim Lyons. While I didn't know him personally, I've always been a tremendous fan of his work (The Virgin Suicides, Velvet Goldmine, Far From Heaven); from those who knew him, I understand he will be sorely will be missed by all.

Over at Development in a Blink, you can read one of the more amusing upgrade stories.
Recently, techcrunch reviews a specialized search engine called Middio that focuses on music videos. It indexes the videos uploaded from YouTube (the music videos and only the music videos) and displays search results for your favorite recording artist. While it's still in BETA, the reviewers claim it works pretty fast.

Lots of us who value news have come to hate broadcast journalism and even (sometimes) broadcast journalists. Blame cable's highly competitive 24 hour news cycle, the endless elective surgery, the celebrity devotion, tabloid style or the obsession with sensationalism.
One of the more odd and interesting sites I've stumbled on lately (hat tip: blog.lab49.com) is not particularly beautiful in its layout or radical in its distribution. It is, however, both innovative in its content creation strategy and hosted by a funny, talented musician.
The CEO of Google, Apple board member, however you like to think of him...Eric Schmidt usually has interesting things to say. Whether he's talking to users of Google through interviews with TV reporters like Judy Woodruff, or to the wonkiest of SEO specialists and Google optimizers through writers like Danny Sullivan, Schmidt is known for contributing to thoughtful, candid conversations.
This year we produced the Official Podcast at the National Association of Broadcaster's Convention, and were fortunate enough to interview some of the most influential business and technology leaders enabling TV, Film and internet video today.

Robert Scoble asked the developer and web design community to weigh in on an emerging platform war: WPF vs. Apollo.
We're walking the NAB show floor with Color's Product Manager tomorrow AM and getting up close with the app first hand. I'm curious to see how intuitive the interface and the workflow are, as color correction is part art, part science. The idea of working in full 444 color space with 32 bit float on the desktop ...and having a "Send To" feature right out of Final Cut Pro 6 is pretty insane.
Todd's first Pictures - enjoy.

When Apple bought Silicon Color (makers of Final Touch) late last year, everyone was excited to see what they would do with it. As personal trainers are revered among Hollywood's celebrity elite (agents, stars, managers couldn't do their job without them); colorists are worshipped in the post production world, especially in commercial advertising. Simply put, a great colorist makes the director, producer and editor look their best.
Continuation of our NAB coverage - Apple's Final Cut Studio 2 announcements from this AM:
Motion 3
The new features in Motion are really sexy and some of them may also be useful:
-Vector Based Paint
Very useful - so glad this is something that's in motion; the pulldown menu of brushes and drawing options looks so gorgeous within the interface it makes you want to go back to school and take a drawing class so that you can live up to the capabilities of the feature set.
