This week, we have the emailed responses of Jason Stollsteimer, singer, guitarist, songwriter and producer of The Von Bondies. Last month The Von Bondies realeased their third studio album, Love, Hate And Then There's You. It's been four years since their last effort, and already SPIN have praised the album for its "dark pop hooks," with The Onion A.V. Club describing it as the kind record that "can make February feel like June." You can see these garage rock stalwarts live on tour for the rest of March.

1.  What music was played in your home while you were growing up?

The only music that was played in my house was either one of two things. GRUNGE (Nirvana/Smashing Pumpkins/Swervedriver) or METAL (Testament/Overkill/early Metallica/Megadeath) The reason why was because my brother was a huge music fan. Everything i know is directly from him, for those early years...

2.  Who is the best artist we have probably never heard of?

Fight Like Apes (because they are like candy wrapped in barbed wire) or Lightning Love (because they are like candy wrapped in sweeter candy)

3.  What record did you used to love, but now can't stand?

4.  What song do you want played at your funeral?

I would like the song Perfect Day by Lou Reed to be played, I'm not sure why... or maybe the song Funky Town. either way I don't want anyone wearing black only neon colors... mainly because most of life I have worn black, so I want to end in multi color.

5.  What is your favorite b-side?

Sandoz by The Animals <---i'm not sure of the spelling... I heard a rumor it's about an acid trip, but that is not why i like it. I like the guitar tone.

6.  Which medium do you prefer: vinyl, cd, or download?

I think I would like a Vinyl Download with a side of mash potatoes. Since that's what i hope they will have for sale in 10 years.

7.  Which artist would your fans be surprised to find out you like?

Sloan and Weezer, I grew up listening to Sloan and Weezer. I would sing along to every word off of both of their first 2 albums when I was 16-18.

8.  What musician would you choose to cover one of your songs?

Prince, though I think he would just make our song so good I would have to quit playing music.

9.  Who is the most overrated artist?

All of them, including us.  Rating someone is just silly. It's one person's opinion, which means nothing.

10. What musician or band do you wish you’d seen play live in their prime?

Booker T and the M.G.'s  I just love that soulful sound.

11. What non-musical influences do you have?

My biggest influence outside of music is my grandparents. They are 10 times as busy as I am and they are 79 and 82 years old.
