The newest act signed to Neon Gold Records (the people who brought us Passion Pit), Marina & The Diamonds is the latest British songstress to bring an entirely new sound to the U.S (think Amy Winehouse... Kate Nash...).  Citing Patti Smith, Dolly Parton, and Madonna as influences, she additionally emphasizes her background - growing up in London, Greece, and Wales - as a source of musical inspiration.

Currently on tour throughout Europe, including a stop at the much-hyped music festival Glastonbury, Marina is an act to not be missed.  Expect a single to be mass-released in August, and a complete album in October. 

1.What music was played in your home while you were growing up? 

dolly parton, greek choral/ church music, many greek artists, kate bush, george michael (!), TLC, annie lennox and a lot of 'world' music. Lolarama... blame my parents.  

2.  Who is the best artist we have probably never heard of? 

I only just heard about st. vincent. That is how much i am in the loop with things...  

3.  What is your favorite song lyric?  

 'And if you crave it, then you know that you are injured' - The Distillers  

4.  What song do you want played at your funeral? 

Dont plan that far ahead, i'm afraid  

5.  What is your favorite b-side? 

???  

6.  Which medium do you prefer: vinyl, cd, or download? 

i like vinyl but i dont own a record player. i always always choose cd over download if theyre a worthwhile artist. I like looking at the artwork, the 'thank yous' and all the credits.  

7.  Which artist would your fans be surprised to find out you like? 

Probably the distillers? im obsessed.    

8.  What musician would you choose to cover one of your songs?   

Juliana Hatfield  

9. Who is the most overrated artist? 

Flo-rida  

10. What musician or band do you wish you’d seen play live in their prime?   

Kate Bush

11. What non-musical influences do you have? 

Fashion designers- jeremy scott, vivienne westwood
