Why Fans Should Never Be Allowed Into Press Conferences

This blog post was submitted by Max Willens, ZIO's Music Channel Assistant.

Imagine for a moment that one of your all-time favorite rap groups got back together, and held a live press conference where fans got to ask the questions.

What would you ask, given this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity?

What about "Where do y'all get your donuts?"

That one's not high on my personal list, but while the rest of the music world was getting dehydrated and cranky at CMJ, the underappreciated Bone Thugs n Harmony got asked that very question at a press conference they held to announce their reunion and a new album. After fielding a few (relatively) serious questions from the press, a moderator then presented the group with questions that were being posted live by fans scattered across the world. In addition to that foodie question, there were questions about Mayan predictions of apocalypse and ex-wives. If you've got 38 minutes of your life to waste, the full experience is below.

As the first (and, let's be honest, probably last) successful hip hop group to ever come out of Ohio, Bizzy, Layzie, Krayzie, Wish, and Flesh have a unique fan base. They love horses; they make long-distance phone calls to prank call tweens; they have spirited discussions about the merits of giving women oral sex.

And even though the slightly off-the-wall results probably generated more buzz than a more traditional Q&A might have, we still think that anyone who's ever seen this would've had a pretty good idea how things were going to turn out.

Ohio Rappers

Poor guys. Can't be too surprised that their fans asked a bunch of stoner questions.

As far as successful rap groups from Ohio, don't forget...Reflection Eternal (Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek) is from Cincinnati originally!

good call on Hi-Tek

Kweli's from Brooklyn, though.
