A weekly roundup of hot topics and buzz-worthy conversation from the Logic Studio community:
First off…
New York City get ready. This weekend is Remix Hotel New York 2008. From the 27th thru the 29th beat makers, top level producers and cutting edge manufacturers will gather at the New York SAE campus to provide panels, training sessions and seminars on all things music production and technology. Full schedule is now available and Free General Admission registration is now open.

For digital musicians, an area that is regularly difficult to recreate is realistic electric bass tones. With all stringed instruments, there is always so much more that goes into the performance than just pitch and tone. Vir2’s latest offering, BASiS, attempts once again to bring the human element back into software bass instruments by offering up controls for harmoics, hammer-ons, pulloffs, slaps and slides, even sting raking.
Vincent di Pasquale and Euphonix have teamed up and are offering up inside glimpse style videos of Pasquale’s Miami studio. Fully outfitted with a System 5 – MC Controller, Apogee Symphony interfaces and Logic Pro, this studio really goes above and beyond any project studio I have ever seen. The series is designed to not only show you a beautiful look inside a pro’s play pen, but also offer up tips and trick on how to get the most out of a Logic Pro setup. Check the series out in high resolution thru the Euphonix website
Alesis has popped up with one of the coolest little gadgets that I have seen in a long time. The ProTrack is a 16 bit, 44.1kHz capable field recorder that docs your iPod! With two onboard condenser mics and two XLR-1/4” combo inputs, this little guy basically turns your 5th Gen or newer iPod and 2nd Gen or newer iPod Nano into an up to 160GB Zoom H4. No price yet, but it has a release date slated for the third quarter ’08.
