Nudging Clips Frame by Frame
From: Sound for Picture in Final Cut Studio and Logic Studio; pg. 164
Ensuring that your recorded dialogue is in sync with the lip movement of the onscreen actor is an important part of dialogue replacement, and sometimes even the smallest adjustments to clip position can make all the difference in the world to your project. In these situation, nudging clips frame by frame is a perfect way to align the spoken words with the sound from your characters. 1. Choose a dialogue clip that is marginally out of sync with the oncreen actor's lip movement. (If your dialogue recording is perfectly in sync, just select any clip for the following steps. You can nudge it back after you learn the technique.) 2. Do one of the following: - To nudge the clip left one video frame, press Command-Option-Left Arrow. - To nudge the clip right one video frame, press Command-Option-Right Arrow.
