New exhibits are the perfect ammo to inspire your own work. Here are a few that caught my eye this week.
The controversial Jill Greenberg's new exhibit New Bears just kicked off at the Clamp Art gallery in New York. Greenberg broke into the industry with her celebrity portraiture and continues to interest audiences with her animal portraits. Capturing individuality amongst her subjects, Greenberg constructed an outdoor studio in Canada and focused her lens on large bears. The exhibit runs from November 5th to December 19th and features a book signing November 13th from 6-8pm.

In London, the Hamiltons Gallery has Roger Ballen's exhibit, Boarding House, on display until November 20th. Known for his interesting play with light and dark, his photographs pull your gaze towards the dark side of his consciousness. Boarding House is full of mysterious and thought provoking images, perfect for the spooky autumn season.

At Govinda Gallery in Washington DC, Mattew Niederhauser's work, Sound Kapital: Beijing's Music Underground, is on display from the 6th to the 28th of November. An explosion of culture, personality, and color, his photographs document an interesting musical sub-group. By exploring the Beijing night scene, Niederhauser explores artists that are pushing imaginations across the Asian metropolis.

Music photography is the buzz this week. If you aren't in DC, you can check out this exhibit in New York City. Who Shot Rock& Roll: A Photographic History, 1955 to the Present, at the Brooklyn Museum features work from a wide range of contemporary photographers. The exhibit runs until January 31st and aims to capture music culture. It reveals musicians in unguarded moments but also in full performance vibing of the energy of adoring fans.
