At last week's PhotoPlus Expo, Sony had Disney World-style encore performances by their lecturers throughout the day. One speaker that caught my eye, and ear for that matter, was Cristina Mittermeier who spoke about her journeys through South and Central America.
Overflowing with positive energy, she gleefully explained her photographs.

Born in Mexico, trained as a Biochemical Engineer in Marine Science, and a mother of three, she continues to travel the world seeking interesting new ideas and imagery. She is also a founding member of the International League of Conservation Photographers.
"Photographers have to be bold," said Mittermeier. Her boldness is what makes her photographs stand out.
She strives to capture cultures within the context of conservation efforts and sustainability. She hopes it will inspire others to live for a ecologically balanced world.
"We can still choose to live in a planet that has a full complement of species instead of settling for allowing animals to go extinct and ecosystems to become wastelands," said Mittermeier.

This shot, taken with the Sony Alpha DSLR-A900, features a very determined subject. He was trying to attack the camera but Mittermeier got the best of him.
"If he had managed to pinch us, he would be the one laughing now," Mittermeier excitedly explained.
Sony's other photographers turned presenters include Andy Katz, David McLain, Brian Smith, and Matthew Jordon Smith. They all used Sony's new Alpha DSLR- A900 to capture the images seen at the Expo.
If you want to check out their photographs, check out their exhibit currently hanging at the Aperture Gallery! It runs until October 30th.
