The social photography magazine, JPG Magazine, just announced that they are shutting down, not just the printed version but the entire website. This will come as a shock to many of the contributors, I am sure, many of whom are extremely talented photographers. The content of JPG has been consistently brilliant ever since its first issue, and for that reason alone, I'll be sad to see it go.
JPG was originally started by Derek Powazek and Heather Champ as a print on demand project. The two later left JPG under some controversy and have nothing to do with the production of JPG today. To my knowledge, there aren't any plans of reviving the print on demand version.
The website will remain up until January 5th 2009 and you can download all the past issues as pdf files. Hop on over there and check out the many fantastic photos, while you still can.
