The fourth tip in our series of Euphonix tutorials is my favorite gem so far. Again we check in with producer Vincent di Pasquale as he continues to showcase the teamwork between the Euphonix Artist Series Controllers and Logic Pro 8.
Euphonix Artist Series & Logic Pro - Part 4 of 5 - Side Chain Compression
Euphonix Users: One of the problems with the mouse is that it can only be in one place at a time. Vincent uses this tutorial to show how adding an Artist Series controller to your project studio arsenal can give you control over multiple parameters at the same time to improve your speed and efficiency in a mix.
Logic Users: This tip was made for you guys. Vincent illustrates a daunting, yet time honored technique of "ducking" a bass track to allow the kick drum to cut thru using side chain compression. I was once told that this trick was used for every drum hit on the Deftones' album Around the Fur to solve a problem with a drastically down-tuned bass covering up all of Abe Cunningham's tracks.
