The Cutting Room: Week of August 4th, 2008

A weekly roundup of buzzworthy tips, tricks, and topics from the Final Cut Studio community:

-Chris Carter and Frank Spotnitz, co-writers and co-producers of The X-Files: I Want to Believe, recently came to the Apple Store in SoHo. Watch video clips from the event and listen to Carter and Spotnitz answer questions from fans and talk about how Final Cut Pro played a part in the film's production.

-StreamingMedia.com, the premier online destination for professionals seeking industry news, information, articles, directories and services, is now offering DVD-based training on how to properly compress videos for streaming through Final Cut Pro.

-The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, which hosts workshops to reach children how to produce audio and video content with such programs as Fx Factory Pro and Final Cut Studio, is now being sponsored by Noise Industries.

-Final Cut Editor Michael Dart Wadsworth recently collaborated with Malcolm McLaren (best known as founder of the Sex Pistols) on "Shallow," a series of short video works, sourced from erotic films from the 1950s, '60s, and early '70s, and featuring original musical cut-ups of popular songs.

-Apple will be conducting a two part seminar hosted by industry pioneer Joe Tirelli about how to speed up your Final Cut Pro workflow process. The seminar is specifically geared towards those working or wanting to work in news and journalism environments.
