A weekly roundup of hot topics and buzz-worthy conversation from the Logic Studio community:
First off…

The good folks over at Electronista a have reviewed Native Instruments' new Audio Kontrol 1. This hybrid audio interface and software controller combines the functionality of a Mackie Big Knob with the ease of use of an Apogee Duet, and added in a few extra bells and whistles. Well worth the $250 price point.
A few weeks ago, I talked to you about the newest offering from Alesis for recording audio directly to an iPod. Well apparently I wasn’t the only one who thought this was a good idea. Belkin is launching the GoStudio in Sept./Oct. with comparable functionality, but about half the cost. Remember, you always get what you pay for.

In what could easily be the deal of the week, Reign Design is offering up The Pro Pack at a meager $99 for digital purchase. This set of 4 mastering-esque plug-ins includes the M-Pressor, Q Box, Red Tape, and 2B plug-ins all aimed for your mix bus and intent on giving you that real world sound.
And finally,

Podcasting recently made a huge jump forward thanks to the help of some good friends of the site, Holophone. Using a combination of H4 SuperMini and H2-PRO surround sound microphones, CultureCatch.com is producing the CC Monthly Music Salon. This intimate video podcast session is recorded in full 7.1 surround sound and then encoded using Holophone’s built-in Dolby Pro Logic II technology for perfect surround sound playback thru Dolby compatible devices like the AppleTV. Look for the podcast to appear soon on CultureCatch as well as the iTunes music store, and for more info on Holophone’s surround sound microphones, visit the Holophone website.
