DV Rebel: The Orphanage's Stu Maschwitz (Part One)

Geoff Gresh visited the offices of The Orphanage in San Francisco to chat with Stu Maschwitz, visual effects veteran and author of The DV Rebel’s Guide. The Orphanage has produced visual effects for some of the biggest blockbusters of the past decade and has credits on three tentpole films this summer, including Die Hard 4: Live Free or Die Hard, Fantastic Four 2: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Pirates of The Caribbean: At World’s End. They were also the sole visual effects house on the Korean blockbuster monster movie, The Host. In part one of the interview, Stu explains the convergence of ideas that lead to the creation of the “DV Rebel” method and comments on the role of production value in user generated content for the Internet.
