Tue, 15th, Apr 2008- Solid State Logic's new Gravity interface to Apple’s Final Cut Pro editing software. Gravity and Final Cut Pro is being featured at NAB 2008.
The integration allows for the seamless sending of Final Cut Pro compatible files from Gravity to a Final Cut Pro editing system without rendering.
“Solid State Logic and Apple Computer both represent the cutting edge of innovation with the Gravity system and the very popular Final Cut Pro video editing software,” says Jerry Berger, Vice President Sales for Solid State Logic. “In a demonstration at NAB, Gravity ingested files are used by its Package Production Tool for first cut editing (including transition effects) and then the timeline is converted to XML files for export to Apple’s Final Cut Pro — all without rendering. Final Cut Pro may then be used for more finessed craft editing such as adding special Text or 3D effects prior to publishing back to an Omneon server for storage and playout. This creates a powerful and efficient combination of simple, effective content editing for fast breaking news or sports stories with seamless transfer to more detailed craft editing for archiving or later highlights program packages.”
Gravity is Solid State Logic’s new remote collaborative, proxy-based, video production editing environment with complete media asset management capabilities. The Gravity system is designed to pull together an entire production and distribution workflow, changing forever the way organizations gather, produce, manage, and publish broadcast news or sports. Gravity features a picon based - format independent, cataloguing, indexing, editing, and playout system with features of local or remote encoding, transcoding, database management and more. Gravity also enables increased availability to high-definition video by making web-enabled, proxy-based access to content at very low bandwidth.
Final Cut Pro has taken the industry by storm by providing high-end editing capabilities in an extremely cost effective package. The industry penetration from educational facilities and professional installations across the entire spectrum of broadcast and post facilities is remarkable. The integration with Gravity is a big plus for the industry.
