Time travel is nothing new. In fact, it’s been used so liberally in some films that it’s often seen as a gimmick or a cop-out. Nacho Vigalondo was aware of this and wanted to add a touch of Philip K. Dick or James Cain to Timecrimes in which an ordinary man has to confront from extraordinary situations. Though unconcerned with technical details, Vigalondo wanted to make sure that his story was still bound by the rules of narrative and temporal logic. Vigalondo has no qualms about professing his love for genre filmmaking and admits that he wouldn’t mind making small genre films for the rest of his life. If they’re anything like Timecrimes, I don’t think audiences would mind either.
