IN EFFORT TO GET FAIR CONTRACT
NEW YORK CITY, September 5, 2006 - Members of the Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) were joined by members of 17 labor unions in a rally in front of the CBS Broadcast Center on West 57 Street here today. More than 200 people participated in the rally, timed to coincide with Katie Couric's first day as anchor of the CBS Evening News, which called on CBS to give the public quality news. The Chicago premier of "Shooter" a short film produced on a very tight budget employing local talent will be premiered at the August 23rd meeting of the Chicago Final Cut Pro Users Group, held in the theater at the Adler Planetarium. The premier will be followed by a discussion with director Dennis J. Burgin and editor George Patay. Doors open at 6:00 PM Admission is $10 for non-members.

Los Angeles (July 7, 2006) - Successfully negotiating the second collective bargaining agreement of his new administration, Screen Actors Guild President Alan Rosenberg today announced the Guild has reached a deal with producers on a new contract covering live action shows produced directly for basic cable television (e.g. The Shield on FX, Monk on USA). Rosenberg, who chaired the negotiations for the Guild, said the new agreement includes a 21 percent increase in residuals retroactive to January 1, 2006.

The new amendments go into effect immediately. Membership ratification is the final step in implementing a settlement agreement reached to resolve the longstanding dispute between the WGAw and WGAE.
